My driving instructor journey.

Training to be an instructor wasn’t an easy path for me. It took me nearly two years. Cost me over £3k. I made a ton of mistakes along the way – and I just scraped through my ADI exams on my third and final attempt. And then, after finally getting my ADI licence, I made a load more mistakes, lost all confidence and nearly quit. Here’s why!

I thought I’d been sold a dream which would never become a reality.
I realised my training had been awful and hadn’t prepared me for the REAL job.
I’d been taught a massive amount of ‘stuff’ but had no idea how to use that effectively in REAL lessons.
My first ten students had one lesson but never came back for more.
I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong and felt totally dejected, abandoned and isolated, and left to figure everything out for myself – which I eventually did after 18 months.

I sincerely hope you NEVER experience what I did. It’s a totally 'soul destroying' feeling which no-one deserves and is not the way things should be. Unfortunately though, even more than a decade later, it’s still what most trainee instructors encounter.
